In congregation, we are talking about HKBP, - within the service program - there is usually allocated 10-25 minutes to announce "what's on" during next week. One item is announcing about people gifting to the church (usually in term of money, sometimes material for church services like AC, lights, books, etc.) as a part of thanking God on His blessing.
Mostly member declaring the name, but frequently with "anonymous" (with some reasons, like humble, or ... ashame!). But, whispering for showing off can make somebody "lost of controll". Announced with anonymous, but with "misteryous" identity, which is easy to know by others who is exactly the person who giving the church mentioned by announcer ...
